The Northern Stretch

Next Opening
With the opening of The Southern Section of the line — from Ishøj through to Rødovre Nord — The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail will be in service on half of the line’s total 28 kilometres, serving three of the six S-train stations and carrying around one third of the passenger journeys expected across the full route.
While The Southern Section is in operation, The Greater Copenhagen Lightrail will continue the final construction works and testing on the remaining part of the line. This will enable us to welcome passengers on board from Rødovre Nord to Lundtofte, north of Lyngby, from summer 2026.
Until the The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail begins operating on The Northern Section, it will continue to be served by the current 300S bus route — a high-frequency service running every 7–8 minutes during peak times. The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail is working closely with Movia to make the temporary change between Light Rail and bus — and back again — as smooth and convenient as possible for all our passengers.
