History
The company
In June 2014, the company Ring 3 Letbane I/S – now Greater Copenhagen Light Rail – was established, to build and operate the light rail system.
The company is headed by a Board of Directors with owner representatives, i.e. the 11 municipalities, the Capital Region and the Danish State, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Building, and Housing.
The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail shares the organisation of Metroselskabet I/S and has the same CEO, Carsten Riis.
Preliminary consultation
In May 2014, a public consultation was held prior to the EIA report. All interested parties were welcome to submit ideas, comments and proposals concerning the environmental impacts that it was important to investigate as part of the EIA process.

The consultation responses submitted served as input to the EIA report that was published in mid-2015.
Investigation
The decision to build a Greater Copenhagen Light Rail system along Ring 3 is based on an investigation that was published in March 2013.
The investigation is a technical report and includes a description of the Greater Copenhagen Light Rail's alignment, estimated driving times, a construction budget and a provisional estimate of a future operating budget for the Greater Copenhagen Light Rail.
